The New Hanley Metrology / Science Resource Center

Located at the James L. Hanley Technical/Career Center on the Providence, RI Central High School Campus is this state of the art "education for the 21st century" facility

Metrology, the science of measurement (not Meteorology) and its applications in the industrial-commercial areas, provides an underlying theme for this HITECH facility.

Laser optical equipment, a windtunnel and aerodynamic design equipment, CNC machines, quality control-statistical application equipment, structural testing and design equipment, CD-ROM training, pentium based computers, and World Wide Web - Internet access stations, are just some of the equipment available.

Custom training will be designed at this facility to enhance school-to-work transitions and academic enhancement of all career offerings at the Hanley technical school facility. Also, science and math students at Central High and nearby Classical High will be offered opportunities to bring "real world applications" through these facilities.

The facility will also serve as the new center of activities for the Central High Science Club.

Also, this facility houses the pilot program of the RI Department of Transportation, called TRAC. Mag-lev systems, city design planning, and much more are part of this exciting new program.
