Research has been focused primarily
on the various lines of descent from the immigrant ancestor, John.
In recent years the focus has included earlier English research in Ockley.
There are certain members working rather diligently in that arena.
The Association has four books
in print. Two books dealing strictly with genealogy, and one which
attempts to integrate a great many photos, as well as more oral history
and heritage. The latter also lays out some "tours" by which one
can locate various old Steere homesteads, etc. The fourth book is
the heritage cookbook.
Newsletters are sent out twice
a year, in January and April-May (and whenever indicated) to keep everyone
apprised of the current genealogical projects, the involvement of various
Steere board members and the reunion weekend. The latter draws people
from all over.
